Ivy issues/ideas

Post by ledzep_06 » Mon Apr 28, 2014 1:00 pm

some of you guys already know this but i wanted to share it with all the members. most of the local offroad clubs (ourselves included) and some out of state clubs have created a group called the Ivy League. its comprised of a representative from each of the clubs to form an active voice on issues and ideas for Ivy. some of the topics weve been discussing are:
1:parking - it sucks. possibly stageing parking in multiple areas for big events
2:creating signs for the named trails i.e. Butchers Block, Concussion, etc that could be sponsored. we already have HMT approval for this
3:holding a offroad 101 introductory course/trail day for stockers. Herman...
4:setting dates and planning an Ivy Invasion every year like we did this year
5:getting some rock bouncers into Ivy for an event. im gonna see if i can talk to Bobby Tanner or Richie Keith about this at the ride on May 10th in KY

if anyone has any questions, comments, ideas, etc please feel free to post them up or contact me and ill forward them along to the rest of the clubs. ill keep this thread updated as new things develop

Ivy issues/ideas

I love this idea, and am here to help any way I can. I am going to reach out to Jerry on HCOR and see about a Stocker friendly ride late May @ Ivy. Gotta let the the nephew get his feet wet in his new XJ.

Yes I am steve, given that Ivy is in my backyard it makes it easy to talk with HMT one on one and be accessible to the trail quickly. Currently WVJC, Ivy City, MOR, HCOR, offroadohio.com, and Empire Offroad have representatives for the Ivy League. ARROC was tried to be reach but have never received a reply

On my todo to move further along. Will rope in "volunteers" soonish.

One thing I've been thinking about in addition to the parking situation is that there is no playground as it were. I've noticed other parks build a condensed area with tires (vehicle, mine truck etc.), we might be able to reach out & get similar.

I haven't been to the "new" ivy but I was old one and a playground would be awesome to have there.

Parking - theres not much at all we can do. HMT doesnt want to expand it and there really isnt room for them to expand. Best thing to do is attend or set up rides there and take pictures. Get pictures of the parking lot slap full of rigs/trailers and show them to HMT

Signs - done, already slated to hang

Offroad 101 - hasnt left the ground or showed much interest

Ivy invasion - done, date and time are set

Bouncers - never made it to KY to talk to any of them

Playground - likely wont happen for some time

Thank you Logan and welcome to the site. The signs for the named trails will be placed here in the next few weeks as a members only function. If anyone has further input or suggestions on how to make Ivy even better im all ears
