Note: These FAQ are in a constant state of update. If you have any questions or comments, please PM an admin or moderator.

What is JeepinWV.com?
JeepinWV.com is a website for offroad enthusiasts in and around West Virginia. It also serves as the internet home of the West Virginia Jeep Club, Inc, a not-for-profit organization formed to safely promote and protect the sport of off-highway driving in the mountain state. Although jeep is in our name, our forum members and club members own everything from Samurais to Xterras. Our common thread is a desire to enjoy family-friendly fourwheeling in a manner that is not destructive to our environment.

Wait, so JeepinWV.com and the West Virginia Jeep Club are not the same thing?
That is correct. JeepinWV.com is a publicly available phpBB forum-based web site. Within those forums are private areas accessible only by WVJC members. Anyone can register for the JeepinWV.com forums, but to join the West Virginia Jeep Club, you must apply for membership and be accepted by the Governing Body (GB).

What do i get if i become a member?
An annual membership in the West Virginia Jeep Club includes a member shirt and sticker. In addition, members benefits include the following:
Access to members only section Voting rights on club issues, policy and election of officers
Access to member only rides and events
Member stickers and member shirts including hoodies and long sleeve t’s
4wd.com discount card (10%) and 4WD will give the club a return of 3% annually!
Vendors section on clubs website Advance Auto commercial Gold level membership discount

OK, how do I apply to be a West Virginia Jeep Club Member?
You can obtain a membership application from a member of the GB or pick one up at an area Meet and Greet. It's advisable to let a GB member know you want to apply at a M&G to insure they have an application available. An online application is available here: application.php .
*the process is to get to know us, show up at some events and activities, if you like us and want to become a member submit an online application. YOU MUST HAVE A SPONSOR!
*the governing body then votes to accept your application
*if it is accepted, you become a pending member and your online status is changed via a color/screen name change. At this time you get access to the members only section of the forum.
*at the appropriate time (Jan, April, June, Aug) the governing body will hold a vote for membership
*if you are voted in, your dues are then due

So you guys have Meet and Greets? Do you do anything else?
We typically have two monthly Meet and Greets (Charleston area, and the Clarksburg/Bridgeport/Morgantown area). You can check out the Meets/Trail Rides section for more specific times, dates, and locations. Spontaneous Meet and Greets are often set up in other places, particularly once the weather gets warmer.
The WVJC also sponsors an annual Jeep Show, which is open to the public.
The WVJC occasionally sponsors members-only runs, and forum members often "host" trail rides throughout the state and surrounding areas. Check the Meets/Trail Rides section often for an event near you!

What is required to participate in a trail ride?
Specific requirements are usually left up to the ride organizer, but a common list of requirements and recommendations include, (but is not limited to) the following:

Requirements - Every vehicle should have these to be considered trail ready.
Front and rear tow hooks Spare tire (full size or within a size or two of your tires)
Working emergency brake Battery strapped down
Recommendations - These are highly recommend for most vehicles
First aid kit Fire extinguisher
Water and food for everyone in vehicle
Suitable jack for your vehicle Flashlight(s)
CB Tow strap (No chains, no metal hooks)
This list is just a start. Please visit the Trail Ride Requirements/Recommendations post to see an exhaustive list. These rules and guidelines are provided for the safety of you and those around you. Abiding by these rules also goes a long way toward public relations.

How do I put pictures in my posts?
To add pictures to your post, they must first be hosted somewhere on the internet (not just sitting on your computer, or in your email). We do not typically host pictures at JeepinWV.com, so we recommend using a free hosting site, like Photobucket.com.
