Discount Tire Direct $100 off $400 Sale

Post by wharthog69 » Wed Mar 14, 2018 12:40 am

Folks - Last year Discount Tire Direct ran a deal on Ebay for $100 off $450, I did the deal 4 times (well, I did it twice and my brother did it twice) and got $100 each off my 37" MTR's.

It looks like they're doing it again, but $100 off $400 this time so smaller/less expensive tires would qualify. I don't know if you can do what I did by splitting the order and using the code multiple times but you can check with them on Ebay.

They delivered at no additional charge (don't know if that's still the case or not) and I got the tires in 2-3 days (they came out of Columbus) so it's a pretty good deal if you need tires.

If you’re looking for a good all-around DD tire I suggest the BFG KO2 or it’s less expensive cousin the General Grabber AT2.

Probably go with the BFG KO2 because I already have one new one in my building. That will save me a few hundred bucks.

I hear good things about the Mastercraft's. I like my MTR's very well of course. My experience with KM2's is they have no side grip and will slip into a rut with no ability to climb out. Other than that they're fine.

You might talk to Aaron West about his KO'2s, he just bought the Mastercraft's to replace them.

Personally, I like AT/MT hybrids, like the Duratrac's or (don't laugh) Fierce Attitudes. I'd have a set if they made larger ones with decent sidewalls.

Oh, and there's always the Treadwrights, with MTR gen-1 tread (like the old military MTR's) and whatever sidewall...

I had fierce attitudes on last Jeep. They did great for me. KO2's came on this jeep. Quiet on the road. Great in rain/wet snow. Not very good in mud at all. I was spoiled by the Fierce Attitudes possibly. But I got stuck, or had very little control in any mud that I got into.

I now have the MasterCraft Courser MXTs. No snow with them yet, but they have done great in wet/rain, and super awesome in the mud. They are louder on the highway, but not ridiculously so. Granted, I am on the road way more than mud. But the times I do go off-road, there is almost always mud.
That's my two cents anyway.

Have any thoughts on Maxxis Big Horns?

I had those on my SxS and dearly loved them.

Decided to roll with the Mastercraft Courser MXTs.

From what research I could find, best bang for your buck.
