So I'm in thoughts of doing boat sides but can't come to the full size or minis. Has anyo e actually done this toa xj or zj.
In my thoughts/plans I am gone a do the 2x5 or 2x6 box rocker replacement. And do half Inch stainless graded nutserts And bolts to outside and bottom. Can't. Decide if I want go full length plus rocker to "frame" or if I wanna go rocker then down and about 3/4 way to "frame"
In both setups open or closed I was gonna do a bolt able pockets to Clean out insides.was also gonna make so I could easy remove if need be...
I don't really want to buy unless need be but I can't find any cheaper then 600.
So has anyone made a set or bought a set for a wangler or ect and modded.....is there any other vehicles out there that are close to the same distance from tire to tire and rail to rocker as an xj. Any drawns or measurements or sect to make a set floating around.....
Everywhere I read it seems everyone just eyeballed. I don't care do that but I wanna build a mounting frame and skin w alum to save weight.
Anyone have any ideal a good thickness of alum to run for rocks ......what's the wrangler alum skid thickness....

seems like a lot of work for not much gain. Cut the rocker out, weld in stronger steel...be done.

Fix your jeep...get it reliable, wheel it!!! then determine what you NEED. you can overdo it easily. wheel the thing and see what your faults are.

plan on it, but I like the look is more or less why I wanna do it. to me it prob be no gain bc im not a big rock person...

My cousin just did boat sides on his 99 Xj with the full tie in. It turned out great and looked good but he said next time it will be 2x6 tubing because the amount of work required wasen't worth what he gained. I am in the process of doing the 2x6 tubing rocker replacement and it isn't to bad so far, the worst part is cleaning out body putty from where i need to weld.
99' Jeep Cherokee XJ -4 1/2" lift, 33x12.5 Baja claws, Custom Bumpers front and rear, Hella 500 Fog lights, Smittybuilt XRC 8, roof rack, dana 44 rear, custom tube flares, lots of trimming
