smccollamjr's Slow TJ Build

Post by smccollamjr » Sat Jul 30, 2011 12:39 am

Although I fear I will be banned from JeepinWV for this, I'm going to start a build thread withOUT pictures. I'll post some tomorrow after I wash it.
I went to the dark side this evening. Here are the specs:
2000 TJ Sport
4.0/5-speed/231
56k miles
Soft top w/ half doors & soft uppers (uppers may need to be replaced)
All stock
I haven't checked the gears, but they feel like 3.07s. Since this is a '00, will it have the ax-15 or nv-3550? Immediate (next few months) plans include:
- Winch from XJ (will need a winch plate)
- D30 Aussie from XJ
- Riddler D30 diff cover from XJ
- 1.25" BL (Zone Offroad?)
- 1" MML (Brown Dog?)
- Tummy Tuck (Rockmen, TNT, ??)
- 31" ATs on TJ Canyons or MTs on soft 8s from XJ
- CB
I might have to buy a rack of some sort because I can't find anywhere to put the bread and milk.

Building a capable off road Jeep is easy...building a street legal one that you can drive two hours away to wheel and then drive to work the following morning is the challenge.

Flares are in bad shape. I think I'm going to try the heat gun method to bring them back. Will it pass inspection without the plastic things on the end of the bumpers?

"legally" no as the tires aren't covered....but being a stock TJ you may get away with it. imo ask them before they pull it in. that way you dont get a failed sticker.

Nice Jeep and you should have the NV3550 since its a 2000 and more than likely 3.07 gears. Good Luck with the build :bigthumb:
If its not broken then lets take it apart and lose some of the pieces and then it will be.
01 XJ 4.0 d30/d35, 3.55 Old Man EMU 2.5 kit, Goodyear MT/R Kevlar 31X10.50X15's on TJ Ravines. That pretty much it.

Hey man i run the Zone 1.25" BL and the BrownDog 1" Motor Mounts and I will say that BOTH are GREAT products! Just dont overtighten the thru bolt on the MML down too much or your engine will shake you Tj to death(ask me how i know).

If your looking for a set of 31 MT's I know where there is a set that's gonna be available in a week or two for CHEAP!

All in all, NICE RIDE MAN!
2.5 for LIFE!

She gave me 2 freshly cut keys for the doors. Maybe she already changed them?
