My little xj build

Post by VINNY » Mon Aug 31, 2015 6:11 pm

Ok so I've decided to break down and build my xj bigger
I have acquired a set of Dana 60s and I am trying to figure out how to set my suspension up
Its going to be a full width rig
Any help with ideas would be appreciated

Bolt the axles in, slap on some shoes, wheel it. :D

Whats your end game for tire size?
Are you keeping the coil spring/leaf spring setup?
If your not crawlin, you must be mallin.

I dont know how doing a linked rear setup on a unibody would work/is done, but you might really consider sticking to leafs in the back. You can get some really good travel out of a bastage pack and its one less thing to re-engineer. Just weld on aome spring perches and hang the axle out back

I am thinking coilovers would make this rig unstoppable

Coil overs best bet. A triangular rear setup with coils is lots of work... Frame mods and stiff kits. Figure out mount points ECT on and on. Not sayn cant be done. But leafs be quick easy and get you up wheeling fastest .

Good and lots of write ups online...

Coil overs are nice, but for 1/4 of the time and money, you could do leafs. With the proper shackle angle and leaf springs, it'll flex more than enough. Keep it simple. The fronts gonna be enough of a pain by itself. My .02
98 Cherokee Limited- 4.5 inch lift, 4.56's, rear discs, cowl snorkel, Rage roof rack, custom bumpers, some armor, and lots of 'character'.

Haters gonna hate

I agree
Been looking around the Internet and I think I'm going to use rustys xj as a model for suspension so I'm thinking about 6.5 inch lift with leafs in the rear and long arm the front

Can I use the leaf springs out of a f350
I have them laying around I know they are longer but maybe I could stretch the wheel base

2.5 inch wide is what I'm thinking the spring on an xj are... So if it matches that width , i dont see why you couldn't

That 2.5 is the stock hanger and spring width I'm going to cut them off and put wider ones on

How much would those springs be stretching it?
