Bench Grinder Wiring

Post by wearethebucs » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:25 pm

I got a new to me 8" bench grinder today that doesn't work...I believe the motor is okay and the switch is working fine. There is a solid state cylinder with two red wires coming out of it wired in with the wires going from the switch to the motor. The switch actually has four wires going to it as well. One ground, one 110v in, and seems like 2 load wires. What is this little cylinder with the wires? I believe it's the culprit why the motor isn't running. Is it a soft start of some sort...or a solenoid? Can it be bypassed. I'll get a picture tomorrow.

If it ain't leakin' it must be empty.
