IFS control arm bolts

Post by Dswear22 » Wed Oct 16, 2013 9:17 pm

Having trouble with the uca bolts in the Xterra trying to change out the arms balljoints & tierods. Anyon e have any ideas on how to get them out other than cutting them out? The bolts are frozen inside the sleeves. Was thinking sawzall or something similar. Anyone locally have one one I could rent? lol

Cutting them is the easiest way I know of. Can you do the balljoint with the arm still attached via balljoint press? Or is the balljoint permanently made into the arm?
If your not crawlin, you must be mallin.

I used a reciprocating saw to cut the control arm bolts off my XJ. They had rusted to the sleeve too.

I have Calmini upper arms and new bushings & joints that bolt to the arms that are good for up to 3 inches of lift with the ability to be fully aligned which is what i'm swapping in. Really doing this for the alignment as I'm tired of tire wear.
