2012 Jeep JKU Sport from MOAB Industries

Post by rdcox23 » Wed Jun 22, 2016 1:56 pm

Time to start another JKU project.

This one has a nice 6" lift on it already, but virtually nothing else besides the MOAB stickers.

This thing is a real piece of work.

Neither of the axles are centered under the body. The drag link needs flipped, badly. It's in such a bind that I worry about driving the thing. The bar for the tie rods is an odd u-shape and you cannot adjust it properly. When you try to turn it, it hits the dif cover.

I already have JKS track bars for the front and rear. Now I guess I need a drag bar flip and a heavy duty tie rod bar. Heck, I may just do a high steer kit and be done with all of it. That would solve several problems all at once, but it won't be cheap.

Building a capable off road Jeep is easy...building a street legal one that you can drive two hours away to wheel and then drive to work the following morning is the challenge.

Lose some of the lift, get back into the 3.5"-4.5" suspension lift range. If you need more tire clearance get into flat flares and/or a 1"-1.25" body lift.

You want high steer for anything at 4" or higher.
Make sure you have axle side track bar brackets.
Do not use a drop pitman arm.
Do not use frame side trackbar drop brackets.

Synergy is pretty much a go to for high steer.

Already ordered the Synergy stuff. I'm planning on having a patriotic wrenching party over the weekend if anyone is interested. Beer and pizza are on me.

Well I tried to get it done this past weekend. The lug nuts didn't want to cooperate. I have since replaced them and am going to try to work on it some this weekend.

Reid racing knuckles and Synergy high steer system are in place.

Still getting some ESP / ABS issues, but I believe that will be solved with a fresh alignment.

Stay tuned.

A four wheel alignment and a Bilstein steering stabilizer seems to have solved all of my issues.

This thing runs and rides great now.

Time to save up some money for re-gearing and a front locker of some sort.

I haven't really decided yet, but I liked my set up with the Tru Trac in the last one. It did everything that I wanted it to do.

Not planning on lowering it any. If I can continue to save up, maybe I will buy a D44 for the front or beef up the D30 enough that I could run 37s or bigger in the future.

You never know with me. :bigthumb:

Also need to get the winch sorted out and working properly.

It's a slow, deliberate process.

Detroit Tru Tracs (front and rear) and 4.56 gears are installed and running great.

Drive Line Service

They do a great job. Call and ask for Craig. I told him I would try and spread the word for him a little bit.
